Welcome to Trading Tools. We have compiled a wide range of tools and articles to make your trading career easier and safer.

Current Topic:

Get your package ready to send. Package the item neatly and secure as insurance is available, but expensive. Click here to see more information on packaging options (Link to packaging)

You will need to decide what method of shipping is best. Most trades agree on a method with Priority Mail the most common. However, First Class and Media Mail are available too.

Definitions...

Delivery Confirmation: A tracking number that is used to see that your item was delivered. You cannot track the item as it is being shipped. This is crucial as rippers love to use the excuse that it never arrived. Delivery Confirmation costs $0.45 for Priority Mail and $0.55 for First Class mail and Media Mail.

Delivery Confirmation Tracking

Insurance: A safe way to make sure that if your item is lost or damaged, that you can be reimbursed the value of the item. Insurance rates vary by the amount of insurance you select (you cannot select $200 for a $50 game and expect to get that amount if the game is lost or damaged. You need to provide proof of the cost.) Typical insurance of $50 is $1.30.

Media Mail...

This is the slowest and cheapest method of shipping items. You will need to use your own packaging materials, but be aware that shipping has taken up to 4 weeks to arrive at a destination (for example, PA to CA). You can purchase insurance, and delivery confirmation. TGN strongly recommends that you DO NOT use this method unless you are shipping a short distance.

First Class...

This is typical mail delivery. Items shipped first class take about 5-7 days to be delivered. The typical cost is around $1.60 for a game or DVD. You will need to use your own packaging. Insurance is available, as well as Delivery Confirmation, but some post offices will not offer DC with first class mail as there is a minimum package size (see above for pricing).

Priority Mail...

Priority mail is the fastest (for your money) way to send your item. The cost is $3.85 for a game or DVD. You can add both insurance and delivery confirmation to your shipping (See above for pricing).

Priority Mail has many perks.

  1. You can use their free supplies. They have labels and boxes that are perfect for sending games.
  2. You can print labels online for free.
  3. You can print and pay for priority mail shipping on line (an account and credit card are needed). If you choose this method, delivery confirmation is FREE. You can access this online at https://sss-web.usps.com/ds/jsps/index.jsp
  4. You get your game in a couple days!

Any method of shipping works. We recommend that you and the user you are trading with, discuss and determine the method you both want to use.

Shipping for Items that are of large Value...

It is recommended that you use either Priority Mail with Insurance and Signature Confirmation. This allows the sender to see who accepted the item and that it was delivered.

An alternative method is to use UPS Ground. It is relatively inexpensive to Priority Mail, and carries $100 worth of insurance. Additional insurance is available and recommended. You can track the shipping as the item is on the way.

Some Basic Tips...

ALWAYS use delivery confirmation. This is for your own defense. A ripper cannot argue that the item was not delivered if you have proof. Pay the extra $0.45 to ensure that your item made it to its destination. It is a valuable and cheap tool to fight Fraud.

Insure your items. In particular, insure your expensive items, such as consoles. There is no recourse with the USPS if your item gets lost or damaged if you did not insure it. Do not lose the Insurance receipt. They will require this to file a claim.

Agree to a shipping method and ship by that method. If you agree to first class and want the security of Priority, then ship Priority.
